Kansas fans were streaming for the Allen Fieldhouse exits when the Jayhawks were trailing by 14 with under three minutes to play. Those fans missed an epic KU comeback as they outscored West Virginia 21-7 down the stretch to send it to overtime where Bill Self's squad pulled out an 84-80 win.
Frank Mason the Third scored 24 points for the third-ranked Jayhawks. He shot just 3-of-13 from the floor but made 16-of-18 free throws as KU improved to 23-and-3. Esa Ahmad had 20 points for the 12th-ranked Mountaineers, who slipped to 20-and-6 on the season.
