Well … the New England Patriots won #SuperBowlLI, so that means we lost our bet with Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village. Before the game, our two zoos decided the losing side would name one of their baby animals after the winning team’s star quarterback, and figuring the losing side would be pretty bitter about it, we came to the agreement that baby animal … would be a Madagascar hissing cockroach. It is common for politicians and rival cities to make lighthearted bets prior to the Super Bowl. Usually, the bets revolve around local charities and helping people. This year, prior to Super Bowl LI between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, Zoo Atlanta made a bet with Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village. The losing side would have to name one their baby animals after the quarterback of the winning team.
What cute baby animal did Zoo Atlanta decide to name after Tom Brady? A panda? Maybe a goat? Nope. They decided to name a hissing cockroach after the Patriots star QB.
