An emergency respondent in South Carolina has been accused of using emergency lights on his vehicle in order to help deliver pizzas faster. Thomas Reid of the Rock Hill Rescue Squad is accused of attaching emergency lights to his own car and activating them while delivering pizzas for Pizza Hut. Reid is a probationary member of the Rescue Squad, a volunteer group that assists with water and road rescue operations. As a probationary member, Reid should not be using the lights at all, let alone to deliver pizzas. Authorities charged Reid with unlawful use of an emergency signal and reckless driving, and he was arrested while wearing a Rescue Squad t-shirt. If Reid is found guilty of using the lights inappropriately, he will face a 30-day suspension from the squad.
