Toddler Uses FaceTime To Save Mom's Life

Toddler Uses FaceTime To Save Mom's Life

Bentley Toone, 2, had used FaceTime on his mother's iPhone to call her friend Connie Guerrero so often,Guerrero sometimes ignored the calls. But last week, "something inside of me just told me that I needed to answer this," Guerrero says. When she picked up, she saw Bentley—and then heard his mom, Laura, screaming. A dog she was fostering had attacked one of her own dogs, and when she tried to break up the fight, one of the dogs almost bit her finger off. Guerrero called 911, and the toddler let firefighters into the house. Laura Toone had begged her 4-year-old daughters to call 911, but they were too afraid to touch the phone, which was "covered in my own blood from me trying to call 911," Toone says. But Bentley walked in with a dish towel, wiped the phone clean, and then used FaceTime—because he didn't know how to dial 911. Toone says she's since taught all three children how and when to call 911.
