51-Year-Old Man Arrested After Huge Cache of Weapons Discovered at His Home

A 51-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday by Laguna Beach Police after they discovered a huge cache of weapons at his Huntington Beach home.

More than fifty weapons were recovered from Mitchell Todd's home on Cambay Lane, police said in a release. Among the weapons found were assault and sniper rifles, the Laguna Beach Police Department said. Detectives also found Nazi memorabilia in the home.

Police served a search warrant at the home after becoming aware of Todd through an incident about a dispute over payment for a client who had hired Todd to release doves at his son's funeral.

According to the complaint, Todd left a series of voicemails and text messages on the victim's phone, that escalated and became "more threatening." There were even "verbal threats stating words to the effect of, 'maybe you need to go be with your son'" according to Laguna Beach Police Department spokesperson, Sgt. Jim Cota.

At one point, there was the audible sound of a handgun slide heard on the other end of the line, Cota told Fox 11.

"We knew we were dealing with somebody who's got the potential of extreme violence," said Cota.

Police say only a few of the guns were legally registered to Todd and are investigating where the rest of the weapons came from.

Federal agencies have been alerted to the bust, detectives said.

In addition to the weapons and Nazi memorabilia, Laguna Beach police said they also discovered several cages filled with over 200 doves. .

The doves will be taken care of by a family member, police said.
