Football Coach Dismissed From Hollywood High

A varsity football coach at Bernstein High in Hollywood has been dismissed after allegations of a possible spiked water incident prompted an investigation.

The allegations were that two students at the High School had spiked the water bottles with a male enhancement drug during a junior varsity football practice.

The incident happened on July 12... But the coach, Luis Barajas, failed to tell anyone about what happened until two weeks later.

“No parent complaints were received at Bernstein, school police [were] not involved, no testing of the alleged contaminated water took place and there [were] no student illness reports,” the general counsel's office for The Los Angeles Unified School District said in a statement.

Barajas was dismissed on August 7 after being cited in the investigative report for not only mishandling the spiking incident, but for also failing to obtain a practice permit.

The varsity football coach had been allowing students to practice before their academic eligibility was verified, a rule that's very important and strictly followed in student athletics.

Barajas did not return any requests for comment from the Los Angeles Times, and the school district has yet to comment on the status of the students, or if there was any disciplinary action taken at all.
