1 of 1 Vail USD's Empire High School students received a gift bag with mask, covid test, latex gloves, hand sanitizer, pulse oximeter and thermometer from Pima County Health Department; 2 tickets to Glitter Ball, a queer fairytale party at Kingdom Gardens in downtown Tucson; pronoun buttons, and more. This is from a parent of a student at Empire HS: Today at Empire, they had some sort of information fair that my Jr went to during History class. All the kids were handed a bag from Pima Co Health Dept with a covid test, pamphlet if positive, mask, latex gloves, hand sanitizer, Pulse oximeter, and thermometer. My son came home with a He, Him, His button, because there was a table when they walked in with all sorts of buttons. He got a pen and literature about sexual assault, who to call, what’s acceptable and felt it was geared towards curbing the language of boys, like when they say something about a girl’s physical appearance….as if that language leads to violence against girls/women. There were some things on safe driving, keychain from fire department, sunglasses. The KICKER, though, is the Glitterball, glossy, 2 sided invitation to the Glitterball, A QUEER FAIRYTALE party 6-10pm May 13 at Kingdom Gardens downtown Tucson. “For LGBTQ+ youth & their close allies ages 15-20 & Active Eon Members 13-24 yo.” WHAT!!!!????? This is at the school, from the school, school sponsored event!!
